The Armada Group

The Armada Group Bar & Buffet Night - Friday 21 March 2014 7:00 pm - Paignton Masonic Centre

The Armada Group is an initiative to encourage newer brethren to meet socially and strengthen the bonds that Freemasonry brings. The group is targeting newer masons, preferably those who have been in Freemsaonry for less than 5 years or below the office of Junior Warden.

By encouraging newer brethren to meet other like minded individuals who have recently become Brothers in this wonderful fraternity of Freemasons, it is hoped that new friendships will grow and this in turn will encourage reciprocal visits to each others Lodges.

It is inevitable that as newer masons choose to progress through the various offices they will ultimately become Worshipful Master of their Lodge. This in turn will involve many visits to other Lodges and if bonds already exist through the social events, then it makes those visits even more enjoyable.

This is the second meeting of the Armada Group for Torbay and the surrounding areas. The Bar & Buffet Night is being held at Paignton Masonic Centre, Courtland Road, Paignton, TQ3 2AB, and starts at 7pm.

If you would like to attend please inform W. Bro. Mike Locke (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) to enable suitable catering.

Club for newer Masons in Torbay and surrounding areas

A message from Colin Gale, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Provincial Grand Lodge of Devonshire

In 2013 we set up a club in Plymouth now known as the Armada Group for the members who have joined in the last 4/5 years to enable them to meet on a social basis and get to know each other.

We now want to extend this to Torbay and the surrounding area and set up another club. We want the members to eventually run the club themselves and organise their own social events, some of which will include wives and partners and also any non Masonic friends that they would like to bring along.

At the first meeting I will set out the aims and objectives of the club and hopefully some brethren will come forward to assist in the future running of it.

In addition the club will also arrange to visit lodges which have something different on such as a Tracing Board or Walking Charge etc. Hopefully the members will also visit each others’ lodges as they get to know the other club members.

We are aiming the club at the brethren who have joined in the last 4 or 5 years. All are welcome including Entered Apprentices and Fellow Craft. While this is aimed at the younger mason, age is no barrier.

Why not come along and join us at the first meeting which will be on Wednesday 26th February 2014 at 7.00pm at Paignton Masonic Centre, Courtland Road, Paignton TQ3 2AB

Dress: Casual & the Bar will be open!

I look forward to seeing as many of you there that can make it.

Colin Gale
Assistant Provincial Grand Master
